Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride (his likeness, close enough), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Alice in Wonderland and Dark Shadows. Yeah, sure, there were other films in between to break up those roles, but most of those films – Pirates of the Caribbean, Rango, and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus – really didn’t push the limits of Depp’s acting chops, either.

In 2004, Johnny Depp actually won two MTV Movie Awards. The first award was for Best Male Performance from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. In this movie, Depp plays the lead role of a notorious pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow.
