These are some of Johnny's most memorable and meaningful quotes.
He always speaks his mind whether it be from a song, public function, or magazine
article. This is what makes him so wonderful!! If
there were a script or a character I could believe in... It would be very good
for my bank account and make my manager happy, but I'm afraid nobody would offer
me 20 million dollars for the kind of movie I like. Well, cars kill too,
so do airplanes, and many other things. Now they find that cell phones cause cancer,
but I've never seen anywhere "attention, cell phones are bad for your health".
I know a lot of people who've died of lung cancer and hadn't smoked a single cigarette
in their life. Well, look, no doubt, smoking is not something that's good for
your health. Well, I'd say, at the risk of sounding corny, that you have to do
everything to a reasonable extent. But how can you take the fact that in L.A.,
one of the most contaminated cities on the planet, they tell that you can't smoke
'cause your smoke is bothering them'. You know...in L.A., where you breath and
it's like you've put your head behind an exhaust-pipe. Look...things in
life are not the way they seem. Ever since I was a kid I had this idea that people
are judged by the way they look and not by what they really are -the colour of
their skin, the way they dress and speak and many other things. When you listen,
for instance, to someone talking, there is another voice beneath his words. Even
if you hear clearly what he is saying, the real truth is much deeper, between
the lines of his words. Imagine how easily a guy with scissors instead of hands
can be misunderstood. (laughs) Well, that's what I've always been interested in
and all the characters I've played are such people. They are the ones who seek
more attention to be understood, the ones you have to be dedicated in order to
understand. I stole a chord book. I'm admitting it now for the first time.
I actually
yeah, I stole a chord book. Mel Bay chord book from a department
store. It helped a lot to
you know, at that age, 12, 13, 14 years old,
you know, things are going haywire inside, so
yeah, the guitar sort of
saved me. One minute the sun is shining; everything is beautiful; we're
making this great film; and suddenly this F14 zooms in and drops a bomb. And we
shrug that off and the next thing you know, this enormous cloud arrives. And we
were covered in water and half the gear is floating down this desert - what was
the desert, which is now a stream. It could get worse. Everyone could have just
dropped dead, y'know?
my fascination started when I was very, very
young. I think... I think it's basically just... the idea that something so horrific
could go... unsolved... and that there're so many possibilities of who it might
have been... who it could have been... and SOLID theories, you know? Uhmmmm...
this one in particular, the one from... that's in the film... is one that I think
is... MOST right because it's... it's not only very possible, you know, but highly
probable... that this kind of... coverup... would have needed to have been...
been done back then, you know.
